China News Service, Hangzhou, September 5 (Reporter Hu Yixin) "What I regret most is that I did not respond to the needs of some helpers in time." During the new crown pneumonia epidemic, Lin Guang, the chairman of the Zhejiang Chamber of Commerce in the United States, became a lot of people in the United States and China. With the spiritual sustenance of overseas students and their parents in China, the "Lukcy Hotline" has also become their "help hotline."

Because there are too many help calls and messages to respond, Lin Guang sleeps less than six hours a day, but even so, it still cannot solve the problems of all the helpers.

Because Lin Guang provided various services to Chinese students in the United States during the special period, he also led the Zhejiang General Chamber of Commerce in the United States to donate to many city governments, police stations, fire stations, prison administrations, hospitals, nursing homes, churches and other institutions in the Los Angeles area. With medical protective equipment and providing help to the homeless, Indians and blacks, Lin Guang was awarded the "2020 Chinese Man of Mercy and Filial Piety".

The most regrettable thing is not responding to help in time

The "Lukcy Hotline" was not opened for the epidemic.

As early as 2018, the Zhejiang General Chamber of Commerce in the United States specially applied for the "Emergency Assistance Hotline for Chinese in the U.S." in order to help Chinese in the U.S. in an emergency. "The hotline means that as long as they are in the U.S., they can be in any public phone booth. Calls are free, and the cost is paid by us." Lin Guang introduced.

In March 2020, the outbreak in the United States began.

In special times, this "Lukcy Hotline" that exists for Chinese emergency emergencies has become an "International Student Epidemic Prevention Hotline", which is known to overseas students and their parents in the United States through overseas Chinese affairs departments across China.

The "Lucky Hotline" was "exploded" immediately.

According to Lin Guang's recollection, dozens of calls were received every day, with the highest record of 150 calls and WeChat.

The eager tone and helpless words of the helper on the other side of the phone deeply shocked his heart.

"My daughter has been missing for 7 days, please help me!" "My child's air ticket has been cancelled many times, how can I solve it?" "I have a fever, what should I do if I can't buy medicine?" ... At first it was the National Zheshang General Manager Several presidents took turns to answer the hotline. After the outbreak, the hotline was directly transferred to Lin Guang's personal mobile phone.

There are almost no cell phone ringtones that have stopped, and the number of WeChat friends has increased from more than 5,000 to more than 6,700. The confusion and helplessness of overseas students, and the worries and concerns of parents all "pounced" towards Lin Guang over the phone.

"There are too many people asking for help. There are still dozens of calls that haven't been answered. Some WeChat friends' applications have expired and cannot be passed." Lin Guang has been stubborn about not responding to the request in time.

For this reason, Lin Guanghe's team has established 13 WeChat groups based on regions, and each group has a dedicated person responsible.

"After the division of regions, although there will be some areas where the phone is'broken', the overall situation is much better, and requests for help can basically be responded in time." Lin Guang said.

On the basis of the hotline service, the National Zhejiang Chamber of Commerce and the Association of Overseas Chinese Students and Parents in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, and the Chinese Students’ Association of nearly 100 universities in the east and west of the United States have formed the "Zhejiang Merchants-All Aesthetics United Anti-epidemic Alliance" , Through the alliance to cover about 150,000 Chinese students, regularly collect the needs of international students to solve their problems.

When that mask was more precious than gold, Lin Guang was impressed by the integrity of the students studying in the United States.

Lin Guang said that some international students are prepared for the epidemic. If they prepare masks in advance, they will say that they are not in a hurry and give the masks to people in need. This also makes Lin Guang feel gratified.

A problem solved is a surprise

Facing the shortage of materials, the National Zhejiang Chamber of Commerce in the United States sent out well-being packages one by one according to registration requirements.

So far, about 3,600 health packs and 620,000 masks have been sent.

According to the different needs of international students, the Ankang bag will contain different things, including protective clothing, goggles, N95, ordinary medical masks, and Chinese medicine.

And to get these previously "priceless" well-being packages, which are currently valued at around US$40, does not require international students to spend a penny.

When the supplies were more abundant, Lin Guang's team expanded the scope of assistance.

Provided assistance to many government agencies, special groups, and local overseas Chinese in the Los Angeles area.

Lin Guang said, “We donated 50,000 masks to the Navajo tribe of the Indians in Arizona, where the epidemic is most severe in the United States. When they drove for 9 hours to collect the masks, their eye sockets were wet. Really need it."

Because of the stay-at-home order, Lin Guang could not recruit staff, and it was very difficult even to go out.

Every well-being bag and mask are packed and mailed by several presidents of the National Zhejiang Chamber of Commerce.

Once, two American policemen came to the Chamber of Commerce and saw that Lin Guang was "starting" and wanted to issue a ticket, but after explaining that they were sending public welfare masks, the two American policemen smiled at each other and left with the ticket.

This also made Lin Guang feel that what he did made the locals feel the value.

The problem that Lin Guanghe’s team has to solve is far more than just the shortage of epidemic prevention materials for international students and the need to send health packs. Finding lost international students so that students who are stranded in other countries can safely return to China through embassies and consulates. The United States accompanies children who have cancer and needs laser treatment, and allows American students to return to China with children with American passports... In special times, it is more difficult to solve these problems and more energy is spent.

What should I do if the foreign student leaves the school and the hospital does not accept any people?

Lin Guanghe's team invited doctors, local overseas Chinese leaders, or experts and professors who can speak Chinese to become liaison officers, and established a "family doctor contact point" for American international students to provide medical guidance to students in need through WeChat, SMS, and phone calls.

"They came with a panic. Thank you for leaving."

When asked why he would protect students studying in the United States, Lin Guang said that there is actually no "why". The positive energy and values we have been pursuing are selfless dedication and not asking for rewards. It is the same as seeking karma and doing good deeds. In order to be rewarded, the concept is a little different.

"When a help seeker encounters difficulties, I will treat it as my own business, and I am particularly devoted and worried." Lin Guang said that in a special period, once some problems arise, they are big problems, and some problems are solved. The process was tortuous and tangled, but once the problem was solved, it was a surprise to me.

This has become his greatest comfort.

Regarding the hotline, Lin Guang said that the hotline was originally called the "Emergency Assistance Hotline for Chinese in the US". When the epidemic is over, it will resume its original mission and continue to serve the Chinese in the US.

Looking to the future, Lin Guang has always wanted to do a "caring for the earth" project, including energy conservation and emission reduction, animal protection, and the balance of the natural world. He hopes to promote the harmonious development of man and the earth through a technology and art competition.
