For the 11th week in a row, thousands of Israelis are demonstrating on Saturday evening to demand the departure of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is accused of corruption, and two policemen were injured during clashes with protesters.

Despite the spread of the new Corona virus, thousands of Israelis gathered in occupied Jerusalem, demanding the departure of the Prime Minister, and carrying banners accusing him of corruption and deceit.

On the sidelines of a gathering in front of Netanyahu's official residence, clashes erupted between the police and a crowd of demonstrators, and the police indicated that two of its members were injured.

Hundreds of people gathered in "Kayseri" in front of Netanyahu's private home. The website of the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported that nearly 300 bridges and intersections witnessed demonstrations against the behavior of the government and its president.

The newspaper said that the police arrested one of the protesters during a demonstration in front of Netanyahu's residence, and indicated that one of the banners raised by the demonstrators read "a liar and a dictator."

Protester and environmental activist Yaara Peretz said that the indictments against Netanyahu in 3 corruption cases are only "the visible part of the problem," saying that the protest movement reflects the deep anger of the Israelis.

Netanyahu is accused of corruption, embezzlement of funds and breach of trust in a series of cases, making him the only prime minister in Israel's history to be indicted during his tenure.

Netanyahu's trial began last May and may take 3 years (European)

Deep change ... a requirement for all

"The common denominator among the demonstrators is the demand for a deep change in the system, even if they belong to separate protest movements," Peretz added. "They are against Bibi (Netanyahu) against regime corruption."

The Israeli government is also facing criticism as the pace of COVID-19 infections accelerates, following the lifting of a number of restrictions starting in late April.

Netanyahu admitted that reopening the economy was premature.

And Israel is one of the countries that recorded the largest number of injuries compared to the population.

The unemployment rate has exceeded 20% in recent months, compared to 3.4% in February.

Due to reduced social assistance, a large portion of Israelis face economic hardship.

Netanyahu's trial began on May 24, and is expected to last between two to three years, according to estimates published in Israeli newspapers.
