17-year-old Sophia Shabardina from Arkhangelsk is finishing school this year and is going to enter a lawyer at the Academy of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

According to the girl, she chose her future profession at the age of 13, after she saved her classmate Olga Ivanova from suicide (surname and name have been changed).

The girl's father, who abused her, was convicted - now he is serving a sentence.

“Sophia, being a high school student, learned that her classmate found herself in a difficult life situation, did not remain indifferent to the grief of others.

I got my bearings in a timely manner, took measures, warning adults and the guardianship authorities about the situation in the family of her classmate.

The timely intervention of authorized persons of the regulatory authorities did not allow a tragedy to happen with her classmate,

"

said Captain of Justice Anastasia Brov, senior assistant to the head of the North-Western Investigative Directorate for Transport of the RF IC for Media Relations, to RT.

Representatives of the Investigative Committee presented Shabardina with gratitude on behalf of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia - “for showing indifference, overcoming difficult life situations and willingness to disinterestedly come to the rescue.”

Sophia herself does not consider her act a heroic deed and is sure that in her place everyone would do this.

The girl told RT the details of that day and shared how her fate and the life of her saved friend had developed.

-

How did you meet Olga

?

- We met in the fifth grade and began to communicate closely: we walked and went to visit each other.

I knew about the difficult situation in her family from the very beginning.

Her mom and dad were drinking.

At the same time, the father, having drunk, constantly said that he did not want her to be born, said: “You are not my daughter.

It would be better if your mother had an abortion. "

Of course, Olya was unpleasant to listen to this, she often came to school sad.

The situation reached its peak in 2016, we were 13 years old.

And an adult will not be able to constantly listen to this from relatives, and even more difficult for a teenager with increased emotionality.

Olya and I were very close, only me and the teachers at school knew about the situation in her family.

-

Tell us about the day when you learned about your friend's intention to commit suicide.

- I was walking with my mother and received a text message from Oli.

It said what she was going to do, and a rough description of the house where everything was going to happen.

At the same time, I always have a phone in a silent mode, and I cannot read or answer a call promptly.

And then just some kind of miracle, I saw it right away.

I immediately realized that Olya was not joking.

I added up all the circumstances: I knew about the situation at her house, at school she was drooping.

A drunken mother took her away after school and said that her father was in an inadequate state.

Mom and I ran to the address indicated by Olya.

Our school was on the way, my mother called a social worker from there.

Together we walked around all 16 floors of that house, but Olya was not found.

And then I see from the balcony of the upper floor as she approaches the entrance.

It turns out that they ran so fast that they outstripped her.

We went down to her, and social workers were already calling an ambulance and the police.

When Olya saw me, she had no emotions on her face at all.

She realized what she could have done only when we arrived at the hospital.

When I moved away from what had happened, I was grateful to me.

-

How did her mother react

to her daughter's act

?

- I called her mom when I ran to this house.

She said what Olya wanted to do, but my mother had absolutely no reaction, because she was drunk.

-

What happened then?

- Psychologists started working with Olya and her mother.

Olina's mother stopped drinking and got a job.

Olya left school after the ninth grade and went to college.

Now they are doing great.

A criminal case was opened against Olya's dad.

We went to interrogations, then gave evidence in court.

In 2017, he was imprisoned under the article "Driving to suicide."

He was sentenced to four years in prison.

Now he is serving his sentence in a penal colony.

-

Olin's father did not threaten you at the trial?

- I don't remember, I just turned 14 then.

Even without threats, I was very scared, everything inside trembled.

Most likely, there were no threats: the judge was very strict and, if the father began to speak not on the case, he immediately asked him to shut up.

That is, the judge was on the side of my friend and was hard-pressed towards her father.

-

Why did

you

decide to go to law school?

- When this all happened, we were summoned for interrogation.

And I liked the specifics of this work.

I also wanted to help unravel things.

-

It turns out that you have

grazed not one life, but two.

Who knows what would have happened to Olya's mother if, having lost her daughter, she continued to drink?

- To be honest, I do not consider this a feat, because I could not do otherwise.

I am sure that every person has a close friend.

And if you imagine that such a situation could happen to him, no one would remain indifferent.

Each of us has a loved one, and helping him

is a

sacred cause.
