According to The Atlantic magazine, the tenant of the White House would have called the American soldiers who died during the First World War "fools and loosers".

The article immediately provoked strong reactions in the United States, including that of the Democratic candidate.

The president has categorically denied the words attributed to him.

Why should I go to this cemetery

?"

It

is filled with losers

.

Donald Trump would have made these remarks to his team, at the time of the hundredth anniversary of the end of the First World War in 2018. The American president had at the time created the controversy after canceling his visit to a military cemetery near Paris , on the pretext that the weather made travel impossible.

According to

The Atlantic,

Donald Trump also called "

fools

" the American soldiers who died during this bloody conflict.

The president was on board Air Force One when the article was published and categorically denied when he got off the plane: "

Thinking that I could say negative things about our soldiers and our dead heroes, when no one did what I did for the army budget, it's a shameful situation.

It's a terrible magazine they invented.

Everything is invented.

 "

Joe Biden takes advantage of the controversy

But the president's indignation will probably not be enough to calm the controversy.

Joe Biden in any case did not fail to immediately exploit the revelations of the magazine: "

If I have the honor to be your commander-in-chief,

thus tweeted the Democratic candidate,

I will defend our American heroes and I will always honor

 ”.

Here's my promise to you: If I have the honor of serving as the next commander in chief, I will ensure that our American heroes know that I will have their back and honor their sacrifice.

Always.
