September 04, 2020Millions of Americans' surveillance program was illegal.

This was established by the US court of appeals, giving reason, seven years later, to the former agent of the National Security Agency, Edward Snowden, who in 2013 had denounced the program with which the intelligence controlled citizens, registering millions of phone calls.

According to the court, the intelligence leaders did not tell the truth, hiding "unconstitutional activities".

Snowden, who currently lives in exile in Moscow and has expressed a desire to return to the US, said he felt "vindicated" by the sentence.

"I never imagined that I would live to see our courts condemn the activities of the NSA as illegal and in the same sentence being given credit for revealing them," tweeted the former NSA analyst.

Seven years ago, as the news declared I was being charged as a criminal for speaking the truth, I never imagined that I would live to see our courts condemn the NSA's activities as unlawful and in the same ruling credit me for exposing them.

And yet that day has arrived.
