The Kings Felipe and Letizia have visited this Friday

the burning chapel of the banker

Jaime Carvajal Hoyos,

who died at 56 years of age, with whom the Royal Family had a close relationship.

Don Felipe and Doña Letizia have moved to the

La Paz funeral home,

in the Madrid town of Alcobendas, to offer their condolences to the Carvajal Hoyos family, who died this Thursday,

suddenly,

after having returned a few days ago from

passing holidays in Mallorca.

On board a car

driven by Don Felipe, they

have reached the mortuary esplanade, where

the deceased's father,

Jaime Carvajal y Urquijo, a

close friend of Juan Carlos I

and who presided over the Urquijo Bank between 1979 and 1983

,

awaited them

.

Don Felipe consoles Jaime Carvajal y Urquijo, father of the deceased businessman.

Felipe VI has taken Carvajal Urquijo by the arm as a

gesture of encouragement

at the loss of his son.

The Kings,

protected with a mask,

have exchanged a few words with the Marquis of Isasi and with two other relatives of the deceased.

They then

went to the chapel of the funeral home

to convey their condolences to the widow,

Xandra Falcó,

and the rest of the family and to attend the funeral mass.

Xandra Falcó, with whom Jaime Carvajal had three daughters,

already lost her father,

Carlos Falcó, Marquis of Griñón, last March due to the coronavirus.

Carvajal Hoyos

was the CEO of the financial firm Arcano Partners, a

company in which he had worked for 15 years.

During his career in the world of finance, he worked at the investment bank Lehman Brothers, the World Bank, the Banco Sabadell Group and Evo Banco, among other companies.

The Marquis of AlmodÓvar del Río

was

also

a patron of the Princess of Girona Foundation,

which is why he had met Felipe VI on several occasions in the meetings of this entity, of which he was vice-president from 2009 to 2016.

There was a close friendship between the Borbón and Carvajal families since the former president of Banco Urquijo

studied as a young man with the then Prince Juan Carlos

at the Las Jarillas estate (Madrid) after his arrival in Spain in 1948 at the age of 10.

At the wedding with Falcó in 1998, the then Prince Felipe, Infanta Cristina and her husband, Iñaki Urdangarin attended.
