After a day of intensive search for survivors, the rescue operation ended on Friday night without any survivors being found.

Earlier, there was information that a Chilean rescue team heard heart sounds from the landslides after the big explosion in the port of Beirut a month ago, but on Friday the hope dropped.

- We talked to the Chilean rescue staff earlier tonight, they said that they were absolutely sure that there was life here in the landslides earlier in the night, but that no such signs had been found in the last hours, says SVT's Middle East correspondent Stina Blomgren in Currently.

"People take matters into their own hands"

She believes that the last 24 hours have meant both hope and anger for the Lebanese.

In the program, she talks about how the Chilean rescue team's search dog gained hero status.

- One of the major news programs in Lebanon opened with a picture of the Chilean rescue team's search dog with the message to the country's politicians: "This dog did your job", she says and continues:

- In a way, this rescue operation has become a picture of mistrust of the authorities here in Lebanon, that people take matters into their own hands when the authorities do not act.
