Prime Minister Abe, as a person who has contributed to disaster prevention this year, commended firefighters who rescued residents and guided evacuation in the event of a disaster such as typhoon No. 19 last year, and said, "Continue to build a disaster-resistant country. The Disaster Distinguished Service Award commends individuals and groups that have contributed to disaster relief activities and the development of disaster prevention systems. This year, 9 people and 76 groups will be commended. At the ceremony, Prime Minister Abe attended.



Of these, the Marumori Town Fire Brigade in Miyagi Prefecture and the Nagano City Fire Brigade in Nagano Prefecture were involved in the rescue and evacuation guidance of residents regardless of day or night during typhoon No. 19 last year. The Boso City Fire Brigade and others worked hard to rescue the typhoon No. 15 last year when it hit the Boso Peninsula.
