Venezuela.Capriles breaks with the opposition and repudiates Guaidó's "Internet Government"
New US sanctions: includes in its 'black list' the person responsible for organizing the December elections
The
Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ)
rectified itself this Friday to adapt to the new revolutionary times.
And it did so with a "
counter-sentence
" that "suspends the precautionary measure of constitutional protection" ruled in June against
Primero Justicia (PJ)
, the party coordinated by
Julio Borges
, chancellor of the presidency in charge of Juan Guaidó, and led by Henrique Capriles.
The Supreme Court, always obedient to
the Miraflores Palace
, then intervened with the main opposition party, handing over its board of directors to two expelled deputies and putting its acronym, headquarters and, above all, its electoral card at the service of Chavismo for the elections December parliamentarians.
It is, however, a conditional release.
"The decision has not been published, so it is not clear whether the original board of directors was reinstated or only the
ad-hoc
board
chaired by
José Brito
was suspended
," said jurist
José Ignacio Hernández
.
Brito is one of the deputies expelled by the democratic parties after learning about his economic ties with Colombian millionaire Alex Saab, Maduro's main front man.
Among the PJ deputies, a simile was used to explain such a peculiar situation: "They have released us but we are not yet free, because they left us with precautionary measures from house to prison."
Therefore it remains to be defined who will lead the party, whether its true leaders or others imposed by the revolution.
At the moment both
Acción Democrática (AD)
,
Voluntad Popular (VP)
and
Bandera Roja
continue to be kidnapped by the Chavista authorities.
All of them, like PJ, have signed
the pact of the 27
, which is committed to abstention in the face of 6-D.
This measure is part of the agreements reached between Nicolás Maduro and Capriles himself, which include the
freedom of 50 political prisoners and the pardon of 60
persecuted or exiled
leaders and opponents
.
The former governor of Miranda also demands the presence of international observers in the parliamentary elections and the delay until March in order to attend to the pandemic.
For next week another group of prisoners and persecuted is expected to receive a pardon.
The court ruling also coincided with the decision of the national PJ board after the breakup of its leader Capriles with the majority.
During two days of discussions it was clear that the former governor has support within the organization, forcing a Solomonic decision.
PJ remains abstained but issues a serious warning to Guaidó, despite the fact that several of its main leaders are part of the cabinet of the presidency in charge: "We must humbly acknowledge a series of errors and the inability to rectify the conduct of the government interim, which
have prevented the overthrow of the dictatorship
and alleviate the suffering of Venezuelans. "
PJ warns those militants who are going to participate in the elections, regardless of their party, that they will be expelled, but not Capriles, who supports participating in the elections but will not be a candidate.
"We will continue fighting to reach conditions in which we can exercise our electoral vocation," the vigilante party concluded.
The political resurgence of Capriles, which has caused a true schism in the opposition, poses a new political landscape and puts Guaidó's leadership in serious trouble.
Opposition sources estimate that a score of deputies, led by
Stalin González
, back the former presidential candidate.
"We may feel frustrated today by Henrique's decision not to join the process, but the response must be joint, from the parties and from Parliament," claimed Guaidó, who
has had the immediate support of Washington
.
