The Nigerien National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) published on Friday (September 4th) the report of its mission to investigate the murders of 102 people in the Inates area, near the Malian border.

CNDH teams have found six mass graves in which 71 victims were buried.

According to the report, the perpetrators are "uncontrolled soldiers" of the Nigerien army.

All the testimonies collected are formal.

Soldiers are therefore implicated but not the hierarchy and the military institution.

CNDH investigators demand justice and redress.

elements

of the military of committing crimes

by summarily executing 102 people in the Inates area.

In all of the six mass graves from which the bodies were exhumed, they all had their hands tied behind their backs, with bullet holes,

" said Alichin Amadou, secretary general of the CNDH.

The forensic doctor and the judicial police officers accompanying the CNDH teams certified the facts.

For the President of the Commission, Professor Khalid Ikhiri, we must get tough.

We should root out those who misunderstand the holding of weapons

," he said.

You have to orient it towards the enemy and not towards the one who is supposed to be protected.

The jihadists who act in the area are exonerated by the investigators.

The jurisdiction of Tillabéri has already been seized.

The prosecutor opened an investigation.

And a single copy of the report was given to President Mahamadou Issoufou.
