Doddy, a seven-year-old mule, was found at the end of July by his owner in Vierzon (Cher) slashed on the left flank, reports

Le Berry Républicain

.

The animal suffered from a large wound of 15 cm, "deep as the fist" confided the owner to the regional daily.

She first thought that her mule, the result of a cross between a donkey and an Arabian thoroughbred, had been gored because he was sharing the meadow with a cow.

But she suspects more an act of cruelty.

Similar cases everywhere in France

Indeed, this Saturday, Isabelle Duffer, breeder of Arabian thoroughbreds in Vierzon and owner of Doddy, discovered on social networks a photo of a horse victim of a comparable injury.

The picture was posted by the SOS Cheval association and reported an act of cruelty in the Allier region.

As in Doddy's case, no vital organs had been affected.

The owner of the mule decided to file a complaint this Saturday at the Vierzon police station.

An investigation was opened for acts of torture or barbarism resulting in the mutilation of an animal.

The mule is out of danger but its owner is now looking for "a secure and secure pension" so that he does not return to the meadow in which he was assaulted.

The case of the horse in the Allier, like this one from Doddy, adds to a long list.

At the end of August, there were more than thirty cases of mutilation of equines across France, says

Le Berry Républicain

.

More than ten departments are affected.
