04 September 2020The five children found lifeless Thursday in Solingen, Germany, would have died of asphyxiation, but it is also not excluded that the death was caused by the administration of drugs.

Investigators said this at a press conference, confirming that the mother, who had launched herself on the subway tracks in Dusseldorf, is still unconscious.

The woman is the only suspect in the murder of the five children and against her there is an arrest warrant.

The five children were found dead in an apartment on the third floor of an apartment building in Solingen, North Rhine-Westphalia.

The 27-year-old mother jumped under the tracks of an S-Bahn train at Duesseldorf Central Station but survived.

A sixth child, brother of the five children killed, was saved.

The woman, before attempting suicide, warned her mother from the Deusseldorf station, and over the phone told her several times to "feel bad" and "can't take it anymore" adding finally: "The children are dead".

It was the children's grandmother who then called the police.

The young mother separated from her partner a year ago and "was emotionally overwhelmed," said investigators.

The six children were children of three different fathers.

The eldest son, and only survivor, Marcel, 11, was saved probably because he went to school regularly.
