The director of the Dubai Fertility Center, affiliated to the Dubai Health Authority, Hana Obaid Tawara, revealed that the total number of newborns born to children who have helped the center, since its inception, have reached 5031 children.

She said that the center has performed about 8,875 fertilization operations during the last five years, stressing that it contains the latest fertilization techniques available globally.

Tawara stated that the center has succeeded in achieving hope and happiness for more than 5,000 families in the country and around the world, who have received treatment there since its inception in 1991.

She pointed out that the average annual visits to the center is 14,000, while the total number of spouses registered in it exceeds 24,000 families.

She said that the center has succeeded in raising the efficiency of work, increasing the success rate of pregnancy through medical assistance in childbearing, and the use of various fertilization techniques over the past years, explaining that the success rate of pregnancy through medical assistance, globally, is estimated at between 40% and 50%, while The percentage achieved by the center increased from 38% in 2013 to 66% last year, and continued to rise to reach 67% in the first quarter of this year.

The center provides freezing and storing services for human "gametes" samples, including "freezing of unfertilized eggs, freezing of fertilized eggs (embryos), freezing of the semen sample, in addition to the annual storage of samples."

Tawara explained that freezing services in the field of treating delayed pregnancy and fertility problems contribute to providing the opportunity for future childbearing, through the use of frozen samples, according to technical work protocols and the requirements of fertilization law in force in the country, as patients with cancer, for example, can store their samples before Chemotherapy, to be used in the future when desired, or if you feel the need to conceive children.

According to Tawara, the number of human samples (gametes) stored during the period 2014-2019 reached about 3180 samples, out of which 1062 samples were stored last year.

She added that the center also provides a service to assess the health status of the wife before the stage of pregnancy, and to treat gynecological diseases associated with delayed pregnancy, noting that endoscopic and other operations are performed before the fertilization process is carried out.
