"The management and staff of Tupolev PJSC express their deepest condolences in connection with the passing of the oldest employee, one of the key designers of Tupolev aircraft, Alexander Sergeevich Shengardt," the press service said.

Shengardt worked in the design bureau for more than 70 years and participated in the creation of civil liners Tu-104, Tu-114, Tu-124, Tu-154 and strategic military aircraft complexes Tu-16, Tu-95 and Tu-22.

In 1997, he was awarded the title of "Honored Designer of Russia" for his active participation in the development and creation of the latest models of aviation technology.

Farewell to Shengardt will take place on Tuesday, September 8th.
