This year, the interest in boating has been greater than ever when many have vacationed at home.

Despite this, the sea rescue station on Visingsö has not had more to do, quite the opposite.

- It is significantly less than last year.

It's a bit strange and I do not know why it looks like that, says Ingemar Zander who is station manager on Visingsö.

At the same time, he says that the neighboring station Motala / Vadstena has had significantly more to do this year.

- I do not know why, if it has to do with the Göta Canal and that more people are out by boat in the northern part of Lake Vättern where there are islands.

Increase by over 50 percent

In total in the country, the sea rescue society has increased the number of assignments by 54 percent this summer compared to last year.

Above all, there has been a large increase around the big cities.

- We will see if the development holds up for us.

At the same time we had some alarms last week, then there were seven.

It can go a little up and down, says Ingemar Zander.

In the clip below, you hear what Ingemar Zander said when SVT met him before the high season on Lake Vättern.
