While the Les Républicains party makes its comeback this Friday and Saturday in the Yvelines, the name of François Baroin is on many lips in the perspective of the presidential election of 2022. But at LR, few are those who actually see him start in the race.

The Republicans (LR) party makes its official comeback this Friday and Saturday at Port-Marly in the Yvelines.

A return to school under the sign of uncertainty in view of the next presidential election in 2022. The question is on everyone's lips or almost: who will represent the right in this election?

For many activists and elected LR, François Baroin should don the costume of candidate, but doubt persists about his intentions.

The atmosphere is therefore heavy, all the more so the mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi increased the pressure a few days ago with an iconoclastic proposal, that of support for outgoing President Emmanuel Macron, provoking an outcry.

"He could have taken advantage of the municipal elections to show himself"

François Baroin will indeed be present on Saturday at Port-Marly.

But many people no longer have any illusions about their decision.

Few see him embarking on a presidential adventure.

"He has shown all the signs of an absence of envy", slips a leader with Europe 1. It is true that the mayor of Troyes is at the very least discreet in the public debate.

"He could have taken advantage of the municipal elections to show himself," plague an executive in the face of this situation.

From now on, even the former President of the Republic Nicolas Sarkozy, yet close to his former minister, does not spare it in front of his visitors.

"If you only think about the presidential election every other day, it's not worth it", said the former head of state.

His entourage maintains the mystery

On the right, many seem to think of 2022, but François Baroin less than others.

Some of his friends speak of a desire to protect his family in the face of the ordeal of a presidential campaign.

At LR however, a candidacy of François Baroin would arrange a lot of people.

If its lack of presidential ambition is confirmed, the party will quickly have to find another champion.

The entourage of the boss of mayors of France, however, continues to maintain the mystery, explaining that he will make his choice and the reasons for it known later.

In Port-Marly, many hope that, if it's really no, François Baroin will not marinate his political family for too long.
