Warning against emails targeting users of "messaging and chatting" applications

Abu Dhabi Police has warned of emails targeting users of "messaging and chatting" applications and promoting prohibited materials from unknown numbers outside the country.

She indicated that reports had been received stating that many people had received suspicious messages on their phones through "messaging and chatting" applications from external numbers bearing pictures of the prohibited items, audio clips and information about how to purchase and the location of delivery, in exchange for money transfers to accounts outside the country.

It assured community members that it is taking the necessary measures to monitor these messages and determine their source and senders, in cooperation with the security authorities, to enhance the security and safety system.

And she urged the public not to hesitate to report any suspicious messages that reach their accounts through smart applications and social networking sites, by calling the Aman service on 8002626.

She expressed her confidence in the public’s awareness in confronting such criminal methods by not dealing with suspicious messages that raise their suspicions, cooperating with the police in reporting them, and following the instructions and instructions that enhance social responsibility and awareness of all members of society.
