“The NATO Secretary General has taken an initiative to reduce tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean and to prevent unwanted situations with naval and air elements.

This initiative, supported by our country, as the Secretary General said today, is aimed at starting military-technical negotiations between the two countries within the framework of NATO, ”the ministry said.

Such negotiations, they stressed, relate not only to the solution of bilateral issues between Turkey and Greece, but also to agreements between the military of the two countries.

“We expect that Greece will support this initiative of the NATO Secretary General,” the TASS agency quotes.

On August 29, Greece announced the "provocative behavior" of Turkish fighters.

The Greek National Defense Staff noted that the Turkish fighters demonstrated "provocative behavior" during the flight of the American B-52 strategic bomber, accompanied by four F-16 aircraft of Greece within the Athens and Skopje regions.

At the same time, on August 27, Turkish fighters intercepted six F-16 aircraft of Greece over the Mediterranean Sea.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the country's readiness to defend its interests in the Eastern Mediterranean.
