The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation "Kan" quoted an Israeli official as saying that the Kingdom of Bahrain will be the next Arab country to officially announce the normalization of relations after the UAE.

The official said - in his statements that were reported successively by Israeli media - that Bahrain is expected to announce this step officially, after the normalization agreement between the UAE and Israel is signed.

He indicated that Washington is seeking to host the signing ceremony of the Emirati-Israeli agreement in mid-September.

Reports had stated that the White House was rushing to hold the signing ceremony before Rosh Hashana, the Hebrew New Year, which begins its celebrations on September 18.

Israeli media reported that Bahrain, in turn, is seeking to accelerate the announcement of normalization with Tel Aviv, after talks between the two parties in this regard.

It is noteworthy that Bahrain was one of the stops in the two recent rounds by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Jared Kushner, the President’s advisor and son-in-law.

After the announcement of normalization with the UAE, Israeli Intelligence Minister Eli Cohen said that he expected Bahrain and the Sultanate of Oman to follow the example of the UAE.

He said at the time, "In the wake of this agreement, other agreements will be signed with other Gulf states and Islamic countries in Africa."

He concluded his statement by saying, "I think Bahrain and the Sultanate of Oman are definitely on the agenda. In my estimation, there is an opportunity next year for peace agreements with countries in Africa, foremost of which is Sudan."
