Guinea: Alpha Condé submits his candidacy for the presidential election

In Guinea, outgoing President Alpha Condé has definitively put an end to months of ambiguity by confirming his desire to run for a third term.

And this despite a protest that cost the lives of dozens of civilians.

At 82, Alpha Condé, Guinea's first democratically elected president in 2010, will be a candidate in the October 18 election.

First step of this controversial decision: the filing this Thursday, September 3 of his application before the Constitutional Court.

Dressed in a blue suit and wearing dark glasses and a protective mask, Guinean President Alpha Condé walked at midday this Thursday, September 3 the few hundred meters separating the presidential palace from the Constitutional Court.

He was surrounded by his wife, Hadja Djéné Condé, and some members of the government including the Minister of Defense, Mohamed Diané, Minister of Industry Tibou Camaraa, Mouctar Diallo de la Jeunesse and Aboubacar Sylla of Transport

Alpha Condé on Wednesday put a definitive end to months of ambiguity by confirming to

be a candidate for a third term

, despite a challenge that cost the lives of dozens of civilians during violent demonstrations repressed by the police.

Alpha Condé is the fourth candidate to have officially submitted his file for the October 18 election.

The former ministers Ousmane Kaba (Democratic Party for Hope), Abdoul Kabélé Camara (Guinean Party for Development) and Ousmane Doré (National Movement for Development) preceded him.

Moreover, for the moment

the tenors of the opposition

Cellou Dalein Diallo, Sidya Touré and Lansana Kouyaté have not yet indicated whether they intended to face Alpha Condé at the polls or boycott the ballot.

In particular the adoption of the African Youth Charter, a promise of the realization of a house of games and the other remarkable thing is that at the level of the economy where we still have very few promises where there was no beginning of achievements, around 24%, because there have been enough reforms.
