  • Thanks to its TAF (Alternative Festive Trends) device, the ANPAA33 is increasing the number of nocturnal patrols to remind people of barrier gestures on the quays of Bordeaux.

  • The volunteers have also developed a coronavirus version “wheel of fortune” with many questions to inform Bordeaux revelers.

  • They also distribute masks and hydroalcoholic gel to those who do not have any.

If you have been strolling along the quays of Bordeaux on Thursday and Friday evenings for two months, you have inevitably seen it.

The ANPAA33 tricycle (national association for the prevention of alcohol and addiction) with its special “Covid-19” wheel of fortune.

This summer, the association adapted its TAF (Alternative Festive Trends) device in collaboration with the Regional Health Agency of Nouvelle-Aquitaine due to the health context.

Instead of carrying out its traditional patrols in order to prevent and reduce the risks associated with alcohol and drug consumption, as for 10 years in Bordeaux, the device made “for and by young people” is increasing the number of night patrols to remind people of barrier gestures. and raise awareness of the risks of contamination.

“Normally, our system lasts from October to June during the student year but this year, we were offered to continue by adapting our interventions to the health situation with the financial support of the authorities (town hall, prefecture and ARS ) ”, Explains Garance Gabard from ANPAA33.

Today from 6 p.m. to midnight the TAF team within the ANPAA educates night owls to barrier gestures leson the quays of Bordeaux with the distribution of masks and hydroalcoholic gel.

About ten volunteers divided into two teams on the quays

From the beginning of August until September 11, volunteers work on the quays of Bordeaux, in particular with the most festive audiences on Thursday and Friday evenings.

They are divided into two teams: a fixed one which rides with the Quinconces tricycle at the Saint-Michel Left Bank Sports Park and a mobile which goes to meet the people of Bordeaux and tourists on both sides of the Garonne.

Thomas, a young Bordeaux resident:

“It's a really good idea because they are not there to act as police or to issue fines.

We can discuss, exchange our points of view and in the end, it's a good reminder.

As during the prevention campaigns against alcohol and drugs, Garance Gabard notices that the exchange is much easier with these ten young volunteers "who often have the same language" as the party animals "and then there is this wheel of fortune Covid-19 version which intrigues them quite a bit ”.

The members of the TAF device built it on purpose for this summer.

To put it simply, passers-by are invited to come and spin it on the scooter and try to answer questions.

For example: if I smoke a joint is it possible to share it with a friend?

These are often playful questions.

The volunteers also offer masks and hydroalcoholic gel to those who do not have any.
