  • The new Toulouse Exhibition Center, located in Aussonne, opens its doors this Thursday to the general public.

  • Initially, this new site (the 3rd largest in France), was to open its doors in June but the coronavirus crisis prevented it.

  • The organizers and the prefecture are working to maintain the International Fair which is to take place over ten days from September 26.

The 88th edition of the Toulouse Fair in June should have kicked off the MEETT, this new space composed of a 15,000 m2 convention center, a 40,000 m2 exhibition hall and its immense esplanade of 25,000 m2 located in Aussonne, north of the Pink City.

But the health crisis forced the managers of the new Toulouse Exhibition Center to postpone the holding of this event to the end of September.

However, its opening to the general public will take place from this Thursday with the motorhome and converted van show, until Sunday.

Very popular during the summer among holidaymakers wanting to get away on their own, these machines will be presented on the forecourt, outdoors, in compliance with health instructions.

Despite the proliferation of camper van enthusiasts, this free fair will be far from reaching the maximum level of 5,000 people for all gatherings due to the Covid-19 epidemic.

Just like the living room Vivre nature which opens Friday for three days.

"We have set up hydroalcoholic gel dispensers everywhere, there is a reminder with the safety distance signage, we have set up a room if ever a person had symptoms and a whole protocol has been validated" , explains Jean-Emmanuel Farné, communication and marketing manager of Toulouse Evénement, site manager, happy "with the finally effective opening" of the MEETT, served since Monday by the tram.

Maintaining the Fair for the time being

At the end of last week, the Haute-Garonne passed into the red zone for the circulation of the virus, which created questions about the maintenance of the Toulouse Fair scheduled from September 26 to October 5 or for the Auto- show. Moto Classic from September 11th to 13th.

“We are working on maintaining these two events, in particular on the question of the famous 5,000-person gauge.

The Fair usually attracts 90,000 visitors over 10 days, but we rarely have 5,000 people at the same time.

In particular, we will use an access control service provider who will do a counting, ”explains Jean-Emmanuel Farné, who hopes that nothing will worsen an already difficult year, marked by the cancellation of several exhibitions.

The management teams are also working to fill the agenda of this new exhibition center, the third largest venue in France, which cost 311 million euros.

They managed to win the National Congress of Firefighters in 2022 and hope to have other major events to announce.
