According to Tsekov, Tikhanovskaya is trying to "sit on two chairs."

He noted that Tikhanovskaya, a citizen of Belarus, "must understand" that Crimea is de jure and de facto Russian and that the peninsula was a part of Ukraine unfairly.

At the same time, Senator Olga Kovitidi believes that Tikhanovskaya is "cunning" and "is trying to disguise her true political orientation with two-fold judgments."

Earlier, Tikhanovskaya said that the reunification of Crimea with Russia took place "in contradiction with international law."

At the same time, she stated that, being a candidate for the post of President of Belarus, she voiced the "position adopted in Belarus" that Crimea was "de jure Ukrainian, de facto Russian."

Crimea became a Russian region after the 2014 referendum, in which the majority of the peninsula's residents were in favor of reunification with Russia.
