After the region last week urged the people of Skåne to test for covid-19 at the slightest symptom, there was a rapid shortage of self-testing kits at pharmacies.

Before drive-in tests

On Wednesday, Region Skåne announced that the availability of self-tests next week will be increased by 50 percent, from 10,000 tests a week to 15,000.

Region Skåne will also offer drive-in tests to the public at special sampling stations - something that has been used for healthcare staff in the Stockholm Region and that has been tested for the public in Denmark.

Exactly how this is to be done, there is currently no information about.

It will come at the beginning of next week, the region's press service announces.

E-identification problem

Children and young people should also be tested if they show symptoms.

But to order a self-test via 1177.se, you must have the right kind of e-identification, which poses problems in certain age groups.

For young people under the age of 18, some banks have a simpler type of e-identification that only applies to the bank's own services.

- It is the guardian who is responsible for the child being tested if it shows symptoms, says Mattias Waldeck, assistant infection control doctor in Skåne.

In the clip below, you can see how drive-in tests work in Denmark.
