Families of students confirmed that their children's schools refused to deduct the value of the first month that will be taught remotely for students in grades six through 12 from school bus fees.

It also added the value of bus fees in the second and third semesters to school fees "to ensure that they are collected even if studies are suspended and completed remotely."

On the other hand, the Department of Education and Knowledge confirmed that schools will not apply reductions in bus fees, despite the possible reduction in the number of student transport days.

In detail, parents of students in grades higher than the fifth grade, Ahmed Refa’a, Rami Shawky, Milad Atta, Muhammad Karim, and Sawsan Nour, told Emirates Today that their children's schools refused to make any discount on the first installment of the school bus subscription fee in exchange for Postponing school hours for a period of four weeks and studying remotely during this period, pointing out that "school administrations have justified that reducing bus capacity by 50% exposes it to losses, and no reduction can be made."

They added that the schools included the bus subscription fees in the second and third semesters, to the remaining two installments of the tuition fees, and refused to separate them from each other, to ensure that they are collected along with the fees in the event that school hours are suspended and the study is transferred to the remote education system, as happened last year.

On the other hand, the Department of Education and Knowledge sent letters to students' families, inviting them to review the latest developments regarding the reopening of private schools in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, noting that “private schools will not apply reductions in bus fees, despite the possible reduction in the number of days that students attend To school, and this is linked to reducing the capacity of the buses by 50%.

The department confirmed that "schools cannot place the burden of transportation on parents, but they may impose additional fees according to the fees policy approved by the department for the academic year 20/2020," noting that it encourages schools to understand the conditions of families that do not have transportation arrangements Alternatively, however, the decision to provide bus services is at the discretion of each school after evaluating the requirements of the parents of its students and obtaining approval from the Integrated Transport Center.

The department also confirmed that joint transportation is permitted to be used in light of the current conditions.

She said that parents should contact the school if their child shares the car with another family during his going and return from school, as the decision issued by the Public Prosecution and Abu Dhabi Police stipulates that no more than three people are allowed to share the car, unless they are from the same family. And provided that everyone wears masks.

On the schools 'request for parents to purchase new equipment and devices for the school year, and whether the department will impose a discount on school fees to reduce the financial burden on students' families, the department indicated that it does not expect schools to request the purchase of any specialized equipment that has an exorbitant cost.

Excluding people of determination from the Corona examination

The Department of Education and Knowledge announced the exclusion of students of determination from the requirement of testing for the "Covid-19" virus.

And she said, "The age required for the examination, for students, is 12 years or more."

And students will be included in the school examination program, while students of determination will be excluded from this condition.

She emphasized that schools should impose social distancing measures and wearing masks, by using smooth methods (such as playing) to avoid causing any emotional harm to children, noting that they encourage students' parents to talk to their children about the importance of wearing masks and maintaining physical distancing.

And she added that students who suffer from health problems can be exempt from wearing masks, after presenting a medical certificate proving this, where in this case they can wear a plastic face shield.
