Halfway through the next parliamentary election, the Green Party's spokesman Per Bolund participates in SVT's Aktuellt in a party leader hearing.

Among other topics, the issue of migration was discussed.

- The whole migration issue has been played out as a major conflict within the government.

Per Bolund signals that the Green Party would most like to reach an agreement and resolve that issue, says Mats Knutson.

- It is obvious that what he says in that case would lead to the Social Democrats being forced to compromise and the question is how far they want it.

Admittedly, they can then hold the government together, but they also risk losing voters before the next election, he continues.

Why is the party risking its government influence on the migration issue?

- Because the migration issue has such a symbolically strong significance, there is such a conviction in that issue within the party.

Then it is quite clear from an operational point of view that this is not a path to success for MP.

They have confidence in the climate issue, not in the migration issue in broad constituencies.

The more people talk about migration, the greater the risk that they will lose additional voters, says Mats Knutson.
