Distress signal from Panama flagged cargo ship 43 people embarkation Kagoshima Amami Oshima off September 2 13:00
According to the 10th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters, a distress signal was transmitted from a Panama-registered cargo ship that was sailing west of Amami Oshima in Kagoshima Prefecture at 1:40 am on the 2nd.
It is estimated that 43 people, including Filipinos, are on the freighter, and the Coast Guard Headquarters is searching with 4 patrol boats and helicopters.
The distress signal was transmitted about 185 km west of Amami Oshima, and typhoon 9 was approaching by dawn on the 2nd.
