This came on the occasion of the launch of the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Federal Traffic Council, the fourth unified traffic awareness campaign for the current year under the slogan “Traffic Safety for School Students”, coinciding with the beginning of the school year, and the campaign will last for three months, through remote communication technology, and by means of Social communication, as part of the traffic sector initiatives to improve road safety.

Al-Zafin stressed, in media statements, that school students of all ages and stages of study are an element of human development in the country and they must be preserved, and despite all preventive measures to protect them from various dangers, there is a need for more awareness and guidance for some parents and those concerned with the safety of students to maintain For their safety from traffic accidents, and their protection from road hazards.

He said that the campaign comes within the initiatives of the traffic sector, based on the directives of the police leadership to achieve the highest levels of traffic safety for all and school students of various school levels, especially children, to make them aware of the dangers of traffic accidents and the importance of adhering to traffic and traffic rules in order to preserve their safety, pointing out that the campaign is part of the plan The strategy for the traffic sector in the Ministry of the Interior to control road safety, to enhance traffic safety and to reduce traffic accidents and trampling cases.

He pointed out that the campaign is carried out in cooperation and coordination with the traffic departments and patrols in the country and many ministries and other bodies concerned with traffic safety in the public and private sectors, which support these initiatives to create a safe environment and environment and roads free of accidents, stressing the need for more awareness and guidance to enhance traffic safety in each Students, bus drivers and student transport vehicles.

Al-Zafin called on students' families not to allow their children to sit in the front seats of the vehicle, and to stop far from school gates to avoid congestion and traffic accidents.

He urged drivers of vehicles and school buses to follow traffic laws and guidelines and to exercise caution and caution while driving to ensure the safety of students and not to expose them to traffic accidents, and to adhere to preventive and precautionary measures and social distancing, and the necessary safety instructions represented in making sure that the vehicle door is closed tightly before moving, and to avoid excessive speed, especially On the roads surrounding the schools.

4,393 drivers filed a violation

Traffic administrations across the country violated 4,393 drivers last year for not stopping while watching the “stop” sign for school buses, while in the same period 265 school bus drivers violated for not adhering to traffic instructions and guidelines and opening the “stop” sign, according to statistics Ministry of Interior.

According to the Federal Traffic and Traffic Law, the penalty for not standing completely when opening the "stop" arm for school buses is 1000 dirhams and 10 traffic points, and the penalty for violating school bus drivers is a fine of 500 dirhams and six points if they fail to open the "stop" signal when students get on and get off the bus .
