Jorge Messi, the father and agent of Argentine star Lionel Messi, landed in Barcelona on Wednesday morning, an AFP photographer noted, while his son is in conflict with the Catalan club he wants to leave.

According to the Barcelona sports press, Jorge Messi is due to meet with Barça president Josep Maria Bartomeu in the next few hours in order to try to find a solution for his son who did not show up on Sunday and Monday for the club's resumption.

Lionel Messi's father arrived from Rosario, Argentina around 8:00 a.m. (06:00 GMT) at the private aircraft terminal at El Prat Airport in Barcelona and got into a taxi after dodging a swarm of cameras.

"I don't know anything," he contented himself with responding to the media.

Last week, the six-fold Ballon d'Or caused an earthquake on the football planet by announcing through his lawyers his intention to unilaterally terminate his contract with the Catalan club where he arrived at the age of 13, in 2000.

Messi is claiming a clause in his contract, which runs until June 2021, allowing him to leave the club freely once the season is over.

For Barça, this clause expired on June 10 but the Argentine considers that it is still valid due to the atypical nature of this season, the competitions having been postponed for several months because of the coronavirus pandemic.
