30 international human rights organizations, led by Human Rights Watch, demanded pressure on Saudi Arabia to release human rights defenders and to stop all violations.

And these organizations urged, in a joint letter to the foreign ministers of the member states of the United Nations, to work to bind Riyadh to its international obligations in the field of human rights, during the next session of the Human Rights Council of the United Nations.

The human rights situation in Saudi Arabia has deteriorated more than last year, and the 30 organizations say that they have documented several new cases of serious violations.

The letter indicated that the kingdom had not met the standards set to address the grave human rights concerns raised in the council last year.

The organizations demanded in their letter that this calls for further action by the United Nations Human Rights Council.

Saudi Arabia has thrown hundreds of detainees in prisons for reasons related to freedom of opinion and expression, in continuous campaigns since Prince Mohammed bin Salman's ascension to the crown in 2017.
