Yesterday, students wearing masks returned to their classrooms in Wuhan, China, where the new Corona virus appeared for the first time in 2019, with schools and kindergartens opening for the first time in seven months.

About 1.4 million students have returned to their classrooms in about 2,800 elementary and middle schools and kindergartens across the city, following the reopening of secondary schools in the city in May.

Official media published pictures of thousands of students saluting the flag of their country, which is a daily routine in all public schools, despite warnings of large gatherings.

And last week, city officials said schools had drawn up plans to return to e-learning if new outbreaks emerged.

The authorities advised students to put masks on their way to and from their schools, while avoiding taking buses and public trains as much as possible.

Authorities have ordered schools to carry out exercises to help prepare for new outbreaks.

Official figures showed that Wuhan witnessed 80% of the 4,600 deaths related to Corona in China.

The city was subject to a strict lockdown for more than two months, starting at the end of January.

The city ran a massive testing campaign, targeting 11 million people, in May.

China has largely controlled the spread of the deadly virus, and has reopened throughout the country, gradually, reopening schools that closed at the end of January.

Schools have made plans to return to e-learning.
