Statistically, areas around schools are not particularly affected when it comes to traffic accidents with personal injuries.

On the other hand, the traffic situation at schools is often perceived as dangerous in traffic.

- The general perception from road users, the general public and people who work at schools is that it is a rather messy traffic situation in general around our schools, says Petter Wahllöf, group manager of the traffic police in Karlskrona.

The municipalities have a responsibility

He feels that the number of parents who transport their children to and from school has increased, which affects the traffic situation.

- When you are in a hurry to and from work, you should even then be in a traffic situation that may be quite messy and where there are unprotected road users.

That whole situation is not very favorable, says Petter Wahllöf.

In order to create a safer traffic situation, the municipalities have a responsibility to review the planning of, for example, drop-off points.

Guardians also have a great responsibility as they are the ones who mostly operate the places.

In connection with the start of school, the police also try to make extra checks at schools.
