In the beginning of the school season, the campus is full of youthful vitality.

"The vast number of young people in our country must strengthen their ideals and beliefs, cultivate noble characters, cultivate strong skills, have the courage to innovate and create, and work hard and work hard together with hundreds of millions of people to compose the song of youth for the new era in the struggle." Along the way in the North Plateau, General Secretary Xi Jinping is well aware of the aspirations of young people and is particularly concerned about the growth of young people.

A young man sighed: "The General Secretary is our role model and life mentor, and his personal growth experience has brought endless motivation for our learning and growth."

Today, we will review and learn together.

Facing difficulties, the more frustrated, the more courageous

On January 13, 1969, Beijing Railway Station was crowded with people.

The educated youth, family members who came to see off, police officers, soldiers, and station staff who kept order were crowded with the platform.

This is the scene when Beijing's educated young people are about to set out to "go to the countryside to receive re-education from the poor and lower middle peasants."

The 15-year-old Xi Jinping was on one of the "educated youth trains" bound for northern Shaanxi.

After sitting on the train for a day and night, riding a truck on the billowing loess, and then walking 10 miles of mountain road... The last thing that came into view was the "poor mountains and remote areas".

An educated youth said frankly that he was very disappointed at the time and could not connect the current situation with his future.

When he first arrived in the countryside, Xi Jinping was also at a loss: “Leaving the capital and throwing himself into an unfamiliar environment, I was met with distrustful gazes around me. At the age of only 15, I felt very lonely at first.”

In 1972, Xi Jinping jumped in and returned to Beijing to visit relatives.

He was assigned to the Liangjiahe Brigade.

"The thing I can't stand the most is fleas." Xi Jinping always remembered the pain: "One bite is a piece of red envelopes, and finally the red envelopes turn into blisters, and the blisters rot away. Oh, the pain is not over."

Eating is not good, the educated youth in the same industry recalled: "I always feel empty in my stomach."

  There are countless farm work.

"At that time, we learned to plow. Although it looked simple, people passed in a straight line, but when we did it, it was crooked." The educated youth Wang Yansheng recalled, "Jinping was very unskilled in farm work just like us at the beginning. "

In addition, the father is still under supervision, and there is no clear conclusion yet. It always looks like a dark cloud hanging on the top...

The hard life, unfortunate circumstances, and completely unfamiliar environment, for a teenager who is only a teenager, the inner pressure can be imagined.

Initially, Xi Jinping could not completely adjust his mentality.

"Others go to work in the mountains, but I am very casual, and the people have a bad impression of me."

After a period of hesitation and confusion.

A few words from aunts and uncles who had participated in the revolution had a great influence on him: "We all looked for opportunities to get into the masses at that time. Who do you rely on the masses now? Of course you depend on the masses!"

The speech was shocking, and Xi Jinping, who was originally confused, suddenly opened up.

He started to work without black or white. He spent the wind and rain in the cave dwellings, and the cattle pens, learning the same.

It didn't take long for Xi Jinping to pass several levels, "don't be afraid to bite", "eat everything", "all this set of life things will be taken care of by himself", and became "the strongest labor force."

In 1975, Xi Jinping (third from right in the back row), then party branch secretary of the Liangjiahe Brigade, and Beijing and local educated youth.

For the pursuit of faith, Xi Jinping also showed the tenacity to face difficulties.

In order to join the Chinese Communist Youth League, he wrote 8 applications; in order to join the Communist Party of China, he wrote 10 applications.

The secretary of the commune resolutely disagreed with the delegation application for the first time and scolded the secretary of the brigade branch who helped Xi Jinping deliver the application.

But Xi Jinping was not discouraged.

"I am a young man and I am pursuing upward mobility. What's wrong?" A few days later, he wrote two more applications and handed them the secretary letter again, so that he wrote until the eighth.

Xi Jinping later recalled that at that time there was "no sense of misery or inferiority complex" in his heart.

Undoubtedly, what supports him is his firm belief in communism and the precious qualities of being more brave in the face of difficulties.

Xi Jinping has continued to study in addition to heavy labor.

In order to make the most efficient use of his time, he "multi-threaded operation": work during the day, read during work breaks, read on the loess slopes when herding sheep, and study hard until late at night under a kerosene lamp.

Frustration is not short ambition, adversity also Nirvana.

"Jin Ping is relatively calm and has a strong ability to withstand pressure," said De Ming, an educated youth who once lived in a cave dwelling. "Never complain to us, let alone complain."

Xi Jinping himself summed it up like this: Hardship can hone a person's will.

The hard life of going to the mountains and the countryside for seven years has greatly contributed to my exercise. What difficulties I encountered later, I remembered that I was able to work under such difficult conditions at that time. Why not do it now?

No matter how difficult it is for you, it is not that difficult.

Decades later, Xi Jinping encouraged the vast number of young people in this way: "Young people will reap success and joy as they grow up and struggle, but they will also face difficulties and pressures. We must correctly deal with temporary successes and failures. Short aspirations make good times and adversities become life’s wealth rather than life’s burdens.” This heart-felt saying comes from understanding, but also from life.

Bold exploration and innovation

One early morning in the middle of winter in 1984, Zhengding Railway Station.

The crowd guarding the platform to pick up the cow suddenly became lively: "It's really not small."

Xi Jinping once recalled this past: "Zhengding was engaged in pure agriculture at that time. I considered that Zhengding was very close to Shijiazhuang, so I proposed to engage in diversified operations and develop a'semi-urban' economy... Dairy cows also started at that time." The arrival of these cattle drove the rapid development of the cattle industry and became a "big deal" for Zhengding to face outside the county.

The people of Zhengding are unforgettable to this day. More than 30 years ago, under the leadership of Xi Jinping, Zhengding opened the closed door and demolished the wall of thought, ushering in all directions.

In 1983, Xi Jinping, then secretary of the Zhengding County Party Committee of the Communist Party of China, talked with the people in Zhao Village.

Equalitarianism in distribution, inability of employees to contribute, and low production efficiency, what should be done?

Xi Jinping pushed forward rural reforms.

Under the advocacy of Xi Jinping, in January 1983, Zhengding pioneered in Hebei and fully implemented the system of accountability to households.

In two to three years, the county's total agricultural income has nearly quadrupled.

"Relying on the city, serving the city, doing agriculture, industry and commerce, peasants turning into workers, and not leaving their homes." "We plant what the city needs; we process what the city needs." Xi Jinping proposed the "semi-urban" economy The development path has refreshed everyone, and has made Zhengding realize the "benefit the city and the countryside."

"A county party secretary in Shanxi Province visited Zhengding and said with emotion before leaving:'Here, I don't hear everyone calling for reform, but reform is in progress.'"

This is a description from the previous newsletter of "Chinese Youth" in the first issue of 1985, and it is the new look of the "high-yield and poor county" under the leadership of the then Secretary of the Zhengding County Party Committee Xi Jinping.

At that time, Xi Jinping just passed the year.

More than two years ago, Xi Jinping gave up the advantages of Beijing and came to Zhengding and served successively as deputy secretary and secretary of the county party committee.

When he first came, Zhengding wore the hat of a high-yield county, but he didn't even have enough food and clothing.

"If the per mu yielded a thousand catties, the farmers still couldn't eat enough, so they went to other counties to exchange sweet potatoes for dry food. Do you understand these things?" Not long after taking office, Xi Jinping, who came back from Sanjiao village research, told the then deputy secretary of Zhengding County Party Committee. Cheng Baohuai asked.

  "I understand." Cheng Baohuai replied.

Xi Jinping nodded and continued to analyze: "I think the current situation of Zhengding is that economically, agriculture has one single, and agriculture has one single grain. The more grain we pay, the lower the income of the people. We are actually a'high-yield poor county'!"

"We should report to our superiors and strive to reduce some of the acquisitions." Xi Jinping said solemnly.

Soon after, the good news came that the county's grain procurement task was reduced by 28 million catties that year!

The humble and easy-going Xi Jinping has always been decisive and resolute on reform issues.

"The majority of young people should maintain the energy of being born without fear of tigers, learn if they don't understand, practice if they don't know, and work hard to create conditions if they don't have the conditions." This is Xi Jinping's earnest expectation of the younger generation and a true portrayal of his own youth.

"Vice Mayor Xi dares to be responsible and responsible!"

"At the most tense and most difficult time, the 300,000 he allocated completely reversed the fate of a century-old building!" Gong Jie, then director of the Xiamen Museum and in charge of the restoration of the Bagua Building, recalled his relationship with Xi Jinping many years later. In this dialogue, it is still difficult to hide the excitement.

It was one day in 1986, and Gong Jie sent an invitation to visit the Bagua Tower to Xi Jinping, then member of the Standing Committee of the Xiamen Municipal Party Committee and Executive Deputy Mayor.

  "Okay!" Xi Jinping promised simply.

After going around in the courtyard, Gong Jie said, "There is still upstairs."

"I know what you mean." Xi Jinping understood, and accompanied by the creak of the old floor slabs, he climbed up the stairs. As far as his eyes could be, there were traces of yellowish-brown mold left by the long-term roof leak...

"How much is missing?" Xi Jinping asked as he walked.

  "300,000 yuan." Gong Jie replied.

"Come and get it tomorrow." Xi Jinping said.

Xi Jinping, then the deputy mayor of Xiamen, Fujian, went abroad for inspection.

This incident happened in the second year of Xi Jinping's appointment to Xiamen.

At that time, Xi Jinping was in his early 30s and was “the youngest member of the city’s leadership”.

Wang Jinshui, then deputy secretary of the Xiamen Municipal Party Committee, recalled: “He was very solid, paid great attention to investigation and research, and did not play officialdom. He often went to the grassroots level. When he encountered problems at the grassroots level, he did not ask others to write reports, but took them directly to the city. The government implements it and it will be resolved soon."

One year, Xiamen experienced a hundred-day drought that had not been seen in more than 30 years.

In the paddy fields, rice that should have been heading and blooming died in large areas.

By the paddy field, Xi Jinping frowned.

"Can't wait! Tractors, electric pumps, diesel, and fertilizers are all deployed quickly." Xi Jinping made the decision on the spot and urged the relevant departments to implement them as soon as possible.

After that, he led the team to the field, stood on the front line of drought resistance, and solved practical problems in time...

Due to the timely response to drought, the per capita income of farmers not only did not decrease, but also increased by 20 yuan.

"Vice Mayor Xi dares to be responsible and responsible!" The local people were full of praise.

"The majority of young people must keep in mind that'empty talk will mislead the country and work hard to rejuvenate the country', based on their own duties, working hard, starting from themselves, starting from bit by bit, and using hard-working hands and first-class performance to achieve their own wonderful life." Xi Jinping used My fiery youth, wrote a vivid footnote to this message.

Facing adversity and setbacks with the courage of the strong, facing difficulties and becoming more courageous with the more setbacks; breaking through barriers with the determination of pioneers and being aggressive; taking the attitude of a doer based on his own duty and being courageous to assume.

This is the example Xi Jinping has set for the majority of young friends.
