A police major was sentenced to a 1,500 euros suspended fine on Monday in Toulouse.

He will also have to pay 800 euros for moral damage and 800 euros for legal costs to his victim, reports Mediapart.

The policeman tripped over a demonstrator on January 9, in the center of the Pink City, during a mobilization against the pension reform.

The gesture had been filmed and had gone viral on social networks, to the point of reaching the top of the state.

Then Minister of the Interior, Christophe Castaner had declared during his wishes to the National Police: "We do not trip up ethics, except to lower oneself, to lower the police.
