China News Service, Beijing, September 1 (Reporter Ma Haiyan) Peking University welcomed 4326 freshmen of the 2020 undergraduate level on the 1st.

Including 89 students from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan and more than 400 international students, the proportion of international students exceeds 10%.

  This year, Peking University’s headquarters admitted 2,894 undergraduate freshmen, and also admitted 396 international students from 37 overseas countries and regions, as well as 100 second-degree software engineering students.

The Department of Medicine has admitted 868 undergraduate freshmen and 68 international students from 24 countries and regions.

  Among the 2818 mainland students enrolled by the school’s main department, candidates for science and engineering accounted for 44.7%, candidates for literature and history accounted for 27.2%, and candidates for comprehensive reform of the college entrance examination (regardless of liberal arts) accounted for 28.1%.

  This year, the ratio of male to female students in the school is close to 6:4, the same as in previous years.

The youngest student was born in 2005 and just turned 15 this year.

In 2020, a total of 4 pairs of twins will join hands to enter Peking University and start a new study and life.

  Peking University enrolled more than 12% of ethnic minority students this year, including 27 ethnic minorities including Uygur, Buyi, Yao, Xibe, Li, Gelao, Qiang, Tu, Dai, Ewenki, and Lahu.

  In terms of admission to subject competitions, this year's five university subject competitions (mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, information) were selected for the national team and represented China in international competitions. There were 16 students from Peking University, accounting for 70% of the total.

Among the students who won the second prize (inclusive) in the national finals in the five university subject competitions, 309 were admitted to Peking University through the "Strong Foundation Program" for the cultivation of top innovative talents.

  Peking University is the target school for many foreign students to study in China.

The school promotes the construction of the “Belt and Road” college and the “Future Leader” international undergraduate program. It not only attracts outstanding foreign students from the “Belt and Road” countries to study in China, promotes cooperation and exchanges in education and culture between countries, but also further promotes the international campus Atmosphere.
