China News Service, September 1, According to Singapore’s Lianhe Zaobao.com, on the evening of August 31, local time, Philippine President Duterte announced that the local blockade measures in Manila’s metropolitan area and surrounding provinces will be extended for another month to assist in the response. The continuous surge in confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia will also expand the hospital's capacity for admission.

According to reports, this policy will take effect from September 1st to September 30th.

Before Duterte announced the extension of the blockade, the Philippine Ministry of Health notified on the 31st that there were 3,446 new confirmed cases and 38 deaths. The cumulative number of confirmed cases in the country reached 220,819 and 3,558 deaths.

Philippine Health Secretary Duque previously stated that the number of new cases in a single day is "still at a high level" and it is necessary to strengthen epidemic prevention measures to slow down the infection.

However, the time required to double the number of confirmed cases has slowed down, from a doubling of the previous 7 days to a doubling every 12 or 13 days.
