At SVT Nyheter Öst, we have in recent years conducted a number of reviews and comparisons based on statistics from the National Agency for Education.

Here is the entire background to the decision.

Reporting that can no longer be done after the first of September.

- In several reviews, we have been able to compare schools thanks to official statistics.

It is of course important to follow how tax funds are used and that all students receive the education to which they are entitled.

The principle that information from authorities must be public is important, but is primarily not for us in the media but for the public, says SVT Nyheter Öst's responsible publisher Anna-Karin Thorstensson.

Closure or reversal - comparison of knowledge results

This summer, with the help of the National Agency for Education's statistics, we compared the immigrant-dense schools Klingsborg in Norrköping and Skäggetorp in Linköping.

Both have struggled with students having low eligibility for high school.

But Klingsborgskolan managed to turn the results around in one year, while in Linköping they instead choose to close the high school at Skäggetorpsskolan because of the results.

Teacher qualifications in Norrköping were low

When we compared the level of education of teachers in 2019, Norrköping ended up last in comparison with cities of the same size.

Even then, the comparison was based on statistics from the National Agency for Education.

The Minister of Civil Affairs, Ardalan Shekarabi (S), was one who reacted to SVT Nyheter Öst's 2018 comparison of the teacher qualifications of religious independent schools with the country's other primary schools.
