An Emirati ship leaving for Lebanon carrying 2,400 tons of aid

Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, a ship of Emirati aid, carrying 2,400 tons of various relief materials, left the country, in cooperation with the Lebanese Embassy in the country. And the Lebanese community in the Emirates, to support those affected by the Beirut Port explosion.

The contents of the ship included food and medical supplies, nutritional supplements for children, sterilizers, means of prevention and tools to limit the spread of the "Covid-19" pandemic, on the Lebanese arena, in addition to various clothes.

The Secretary-General of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, affirmed that the conduct of this shipment of humanitarian aid comes within the framework of the directives of the wise leadership, to provide everything that would meet the needs of the victims and those affected by the explosion, and to stand by the brothers in Lebanon in their current circumstances. It also comes within the humanitarian and relief program that the Emirates Red Crescent is implementing on the Lebanese arena, under the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to alleviate the human suffering caused by the explosion disaster.

He said that the authority was keen to deliver its aid to the affected people, by air and sea, to meet the increasing needs of the Lebanese people at the present time, indicating in this regard the continuation of the authority’s initiatives to transport more urgent needs to Lebanon.

For his part, the Lebanese ambassador to the state, Fouad Shehab Dandan, expressed his country's appreciation of the government and people for the UAE's initiatives towards the victims of the Beirut port explosion, and said: “Since the first hours following the catastrophic bombing of Beirut Port, the United Arab Emirates has responded with gratitude to the relief calls. The first countries, but the first to respond to these calls, sent medical and relief supplies to sooth the wounds of the Lebanese, at the generous initiative of the leadership of the Emirates and through its various specialized institutions, and the Emirati Red Crescent was at the forefront, sending medical and relief aid to the Lebanese Red Cross.
