An investigation for poisoning was opened after the complaint of several caregivers of the Nord Franche-Comté hospital who implicate a former colleague of this establishment located near Belfort, we learned Tuesday from corroborating sources.

An investigation for "administration of a harmful substance" is "open since the summer of 2019", told AFP the public prosecutor of Belfort, Eric Plantier, confirming information from the regional daily L'Est Républicain.

A dozen caregivers from the hospital's intensive care unit accuse a former nurse of having injected a harmful product into their drinks to poison them, said a union source.

The victims felt sick and weakened but none died.

A caregiver excluded

According to L'Est Républicain, the team, who wanted to be clear, installed a cell phone to film the refrigerator where these drinks were located.

“We see a nursing assistant from our team opening our bottles and pouring liquid into them using a syringe,” says a victim in the newspaper.

"The hospital lodged a complaint against the suspected agent, who was removed without delay from the hospital and excluded from the establishment on the basis of the elements at its disposal," said the establishment in a statement, specifying that the suspected facts date back to June 2019. "The caregivers concerned by the facts were accompanied by the hospital in their filing of complaints and on the psychological level for those who wished it", it was added.

The investigation, still in progress, was entrusted to the research brigade of the gendarmerie of Belfort.
