Yesterday, the Lebanese Prime Minister-designate Mustafa Adib called for the formation of a new government in record time and urged immediate reforms as a step towards reaching an agreement with the International Monetary Fund.

He spoke after being tasked with forming the new government and hours before the arrival of French President Emmanuel Macron, whose pressure on Lebanon's divided leaders was crucial to reaching an agreement on Adeeb, Beirut's ambassador to Berlin.

Adeeb said, after being assigned by President Michel Aoun: “I was honored to meet President Michel Aoun. The decision of the MPs in binding consultations informed me of my mandate to form the new Lebanese government and I thanked the representatives for their confidence.”

"We pray to God to help us form the government as soon as possible in these difficult circumstances that our country is going through, especially after the devastating bombing of the port and the fall of martyrs, wounded and missing," he added.

No time for words, promises and wishes ».

He said, "There is great concern among all Lebanese for the present and the future.

We will succeed in this task to select a homogeneous Lebanese team of competent and competent people, and we will all proceed, in cooperation with the Parliament, in carrying out basic reforms.
