"The flight of the Russian Su-27 fighter, accompanied by an American bomber, was carried out over the neutral waters of the Baltic Sea in strict accordance with the International Rules for the Use of Airspace, without violating the borders of other states, which is confirmed by means of objective control," Interfax quotes a statement.

NATO stated that the Su-27 intercepted an American B-52H bomber over the Baltic Sea, violating Danish airspace.

On August 28, two Su-27 fighters took to the air over the Baltic Sea to intercept the B-52H bomber.

On August 31, the Su-27 was also escorted by three US Air Force bombers over the Baltic Sea.
