30 August 2020A tribute to maestro Ennio Morricone will open the Opening Ceremony of the 77th Venice International Film Festival, broadcast live on Wednesday 2 September on Rai Movie starting at 19.00.

The Roma Sinfonietta, conducted by Maestro Andrea Morricone, son of Ennio, and composed of 3 first violins, 3 second violins, 1 viola, 1 cello and 1 double bass, will perform on the stage of the Sala Grande of the Palazzo del Cinema, "The theme of Deborah ", composed for the soundtrack of the film" Once upon a time in America "(1984) by Sergio Leone.

The opening ceremony will see the presence of Ennio's son, Marco, and family members.

Ennio Morricone, former Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 1995 Film Festival, was one of the most influential and prolific film musician and composers of the second half of the twentieth century. In this way, the Biennale intends to pay homage to his universally recognized genius.
