Xinhua News Agency, Chicago, August 30 (Reporter Xu Jing) On the afternoon of the 29th local time, thousands of people took to the streets of Kenosha, Wisconsin, USA to stage a peaceful demonstration for the 29-year-old black man who was shot and injured by police from behind on the 23rd Jacob Black calls for fairness and justice.

According to US media reports, the day's event was organized by the Black family. Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes of Wisconsin, Gwen Moore, Democrat of the United States Congress, and some social activists and supporters participated in the demonstration.

Black’s father, Jacob Black, said at the rally: “(Today) we are united and stand here. Without justice, there can be no peace.” He called on the people to continue peaceful demonstrations.

The Kenosha Police Union issued a statement on the 28th, saying that the current description of the shooting is "completely inaccurate." The statement said that before the police went to the scene, they learned that Black was guilty of domestic violence, including a three-level sexual assault charge, and the police had issued a felony arrest warrant against Black.

The statement also denied the claim that Black had no weapons, saying that the police ordered Black to put the knife down several times, but Black did not cooperate and "worked" with the police.

Currently, the policeman who shot and wounded Black and the other two policemen present have been suspended.

Benjamin Krupp, a lawyer for Black’s family, said on the 25th that Black was paralyzed and that it would be a miracle if Black could walk after recovery, and said that a civil lawsuit would be filed against the Kenosha Police Department.
