"I feel a vocation as a common candidate" for the left in 2022, launched Sunday the boss of LFI Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who must make in October his decision to stand or not in the presidential election. Common candidate, "I was for the Communists, and for thousands of Socialists who voted for me in the presidential election" in 2017, supported the one who has already presented himself twice, during the program “Political questions” from France Inter-Le Monde-France Info.

The leader of the Insoumis was questioned about the words of former President François Hollande, who said on Saturday that the PS should not “rally” for 2022 neither to an environmental candidacy, nor to Jean-Luc Mélenchon. The Socialists themselves "are welcome" in support of LFI, retorted Sunday the boss of the radical left movement.

A tackle for François Hollande

He considered that these words of François Hollande are due to the fact that the former head of state and former number one of the PS "is a little stunned by the decision of collective suicide taken by Olivier Faure", the current First Secretary. He said he was ready to line up, including in 2022, behind “whoever is best placed”. Jean-Luc Mélenchon translated this into a rallying of the PS to the future environmental candidate.

More generally, “what matters is not unity for unity. What is important is to offer themes to the French who bring together a majority ”, he explained. François Hollande is treated "like a plague" at the PS, "it's not correct", further criticized Jean-Luc Mélenchon, himself a former socialist. He "asks the PS to be clear on their political record: yes or no they disavow" François Hollande and in particular his "supply policy".
