On Saturday, Israel welcomed the UAE’s decision to cancel the boycott law. In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the Emirati decision as an "important step that will advance prosperity and peace in the region."

For his part, Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi said that the abolition of the UAE's boycott of Israel is an important step towards a real peace that yields economic and commercial achievements for the two peoples, and enhances stability in the Middle East.

Earlier Saturday, the UAE, by presidential decree, abolished the boycott of Israel law, and allowed its citizens to cooperate in commercial and financial cooperation with Israelis.

The UAE decision comes in the wake of US President Donald Trump's announcement on August 13 that Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv reached an agreement to normalize relations between them.

The Emirati-Israeli agreement was met with widespread Arab popular rejection and condemnation from the Palestinian factions and leadership, which considered it a "betrayal" by Abu Dhabi of Jerusalem, the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the Palestinian cause.
