Congo-B .: Jean-Marie Michel Mokoko is again in Brazzaville

Evacuated to Turkey on July 30 by a medical plane after long negotiations, General Jean-Marie Michel Mokoko, 73, returned Sunday, August 30 to Brazzaville after a month of treatment in Turkey. His councils believe that he is better, civil society welcomes this return and demands more attention towards him, while the authorities consider that the attitude of the general and his family has been responsible.

The jet that brought the general prisoner landed in Brazzaville at 3:50 p.m. local time. No special military or police device to welcome him at the airport.

Immediately after getting off the plane, the general was embarked very discreetly in a large engine with tinted windows, according to witnesses. He was taken directly to the military hospital where his counsel could see him.

“ I found him to be in good shape. He still has to stay for a few days in the military hospital for exercises because he has some small muscle problems,  ”said one of his lawyers.

"  The return does not matter, if he has recovered his health it is the most important and the fight continues so that justice triumphs one day  ", declared Trésor Nzila human rights defender (OCDH) for his part.

According to a prison source, the former chief of staff will have to find his cell at the Brazzaville remand center. "  We expect to file a request for release in his favor in a few days,  " said another lawyer. "  We don't have too many comments at this point, but believe the general and his family have been more responsible than those who made unfounded comments on social media in particular,  " a government source said.
