  In a video speech, Edward Kelly, Director of the Department of Health Services of the World Health Organization, said that Gansu Province has rich resources of traditional medicine, especially Chinese herbal medicine, and has a long history of international cooperation, especially cooperation with countries along the “Belt and Road”. WHO expects all member parties, especially countries along the “Belt and Road” to jointly strengthen scientific research and further integrate traditional medicine into health services and health systems.

  He also said that many countries and regions are actively exploring traditional medical resources for coping with new coronary pneumonia, and this exploration is at different stages. For example, China has used traditional Chinese medicine alone or combined with conventional medicines to treat more than 90% of patients during different periods of the disease, and has achieved remarkable results in fighting the epidemic; India has developed and implemented traditional medicine and conventional medicine. Combining methods to manage and control the new crown is also a very important part of the country’s response to this pandemic; African countries are strengthening the research capabilities of traditional medicine through cooperation with WHO members and institutions. Many academic institutions and other professional organizations are also conducting research on interventions for traditional medicine products.

  In a video speech, Succi Gezo, Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister of Hungary, said that Hungary is the first country in the European Union to recognize the huge treasure of "Chinese medicine". Traditional Chinese medicine is a cultural treasure accumulated by the Chinese nation for thousands of years. Hungary is also unique in the application of traditional herbal medicine. In the treatment system of Western medicine, it has been combined with Chinese herbal medicine to achieve good clinical effects through the combination of Chinese and Western medicine.

  Zhong Nanshan, the winner of the "Medal of the Republic" and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, also said in a speech at the conference that he and his team will further explore exchanges and cooperation with Gansu in further promoting the working mechanism of traditional Chinese medicine and Tibetan medicine in response to public health emergencies.
