The investigation has shown that the now 37-year-old man committed the act alone, without the involvement of any other person. The two victims were selected at random.

Longer interrogations have been held with the 37-year-old who has admitted. A previous forensic psychiatric examination shows that he suffered from some form of mental disorder at the time of the incident.

The investigation also shows that the man lived a very secluded life in Linköping after the double murder. According to the prosecutor, this may have meant that he was not discovered by the police until after almost 16 years.

Before the upcoming trial, former friends of the 37-year-old will be called as witnesses. Two relatives of the victims and two people who saw parts of the crime will also be called as witnesses, reports Ekot.
