The work of removing the very large plug means that the accessibility in the Ljurarondellen will be limited from Friday to Monday.

- Plugs like this are formed a lot due to people spilling grease down the drain. That's the big reason. This is also an old concrete pipe in poor condition. Grease easily sticks to concrete, but now we are going to pull in new lining so that the line will last longer, says Jonas Törnvall, project manager at Nodra.

Divers dip grease

The hope was that it would be a smaller stopper that could be dissolved. But that was not the case.

- We have divers who have been down since yesterday and are handcuffing. I will get status this afternoon about how much work is left, says Jonas Törnvall.

It is unclear what happens to the fat afterwards. It depends on how much gravel, channels and razor blades are involved in the plug.

- It will either be a landfill or fat recycling, says Jonas Törnvall.
