“US law enforcement agencies are actively continuing to arrest Russians around the world. Since 2008, 56 such cases have already been recorded on the territory of third countries, of which six occurred in 2019, "the statement on the department's website says.

The ministry noted that Russians who have come under criminal prosecution in the United States often face prejudice and legal arbitrariness.

“To obtain confessions in fabricated cases, they are subjected to powerful psychological pressure, create unbearable conditions for them, as in the situation with M.V. Butina ... terms that fell to the share of the aforementioned K.V. Yaroshenko and V.A. Buta, ”the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed.

They also drew attention to the difficult situation with the provision of consular support to detained Russians on the West Coast of the United States due to the closure by the American authorities in 2017-2018 of the general consulates of Russia in San Francisco and Seattle.

The Foreign Ministry urged compatriots to "carefully weigh the existing risks of persecution from the American side" when planning trips abroad, including to countries that have extradition agreements with the United States.

On August 27, it became known about the arrest in the United States of Russian citizen Alexander Spitsyn on charges of fraud.

On August 22, 27-year-old Russian Yegor Kryuchkov was arrested in Los Angeles on charges of conspiracy to commit cybercrime.
